DON WESLEY: Painter of Birds Like Us
Don Wesley is known for his characterizations of birds as stand-ins for people. His layered and sometimes surreal portraiture of the avian world around us reveals similarities in ourselves. Most of Don's bird work is painted using acrylics, with surfaces ranging from various types of canvas or board to found objects and fine cotton paper.

IRAQ MEMORIAL
It was four years ago that U.S. and Allied forces entered into Iraq with hopes to establish an appropriate government there. The price our nation has been paying for this endeavor is the most expensive of all; brave young lives. Each bird in the paintings below represents a soldier who has died in the effort. There are four paintings thus far; one for each year of our involvement.

LEGO MOSAICS
FUN WITH LEGO® - Another branch of my art blends impressionism and realism using a technique similar to pointillism. As a software designer I learned how to pixel push to make graphics (namely icons) with little blocks of color that collectively make a discernable image, not unlike pointillism. As an artist I chose a favorite childhood toy, Lego®, to create interactive murals and portraits.
