MAY 2007 TEN DAYS IN TUSCANY Judy Anderson presents watercolor paintings and printmaking based on her recent visit to Florence and central Italy’s Tuscany region. Anderson's paintings, mixed media prints and etchings are all rich in color, uniquely descriptive and positively inviting. By thoroughly exploring the character and nature of her subjects, Judy lures us into her narratives with a seductive innocence. SHOW OPENS: Friday, May 4, 11am-11pm MEET THE ARTIST: 6pm-9pm NOW IN THE W.A.G. COLLECTION Each month we try to purchase at least one work of art from an exhibiting artist. This month, we purchased Pat Cooper's assemblage sculpture Shrine to the Fallen Clowns. Pat Cooper serves the community as an artist, caregiver, and yes, clown. The unique textures and depictions in his work have a Northwest sentiment. They are timeless tales - mystical comedies and sometimes farcical examinations of the world around us. This piece is an ode to funnymen John Candy and John Belushi, two men many of us adored when they were in their prime creative days. This piece was resurrected for the Cooper's Moving to Bremerton Potlatch. THANK YOU TO OUR NEW COLLECTORS We would like to sincerely thank our newest and continuing collectors for their support... I visited the South Kitsap Artists this past month and did a rare demo. It was a rewarding experience for me and the group. It was also fun to have to produce something in an hour in front of a hungry audience. I managed to get a good start on a medium size piece for my June show. I'm including process shots (to the left) just for fun. Other things discussed: Bremerton's 1% for the arts (brought postcards for interested artists), the gallery and the artists (visited the website via projector). JUNE 2007 AVIAMERICANOS! In June the Wesley Art Gallery features the work of gallery owner and artist, Don Wesley. Wesley depicts birds as stand-ins for contemporary Americans. His latest work juxtaposes introduced species of birds and elements of contemporary Americana. SHOW OPENS: Friday June 1 from 11am-11pm. |
